I appreciate these insights. I have a theory.
The unneeded complexity, I’d argue, comes from two things: maturation, and competitive advantage in methodological opacity.
When more people want to use the field, more resources are made available that aim to differentiate the outcomes, process, and tools used to do UX. These orgs aim for competitive advantage through seeming more intricate, more useful, more branded, more functionality, and the like.
But we need to remember the roots. Thanks for that.
